After independence

In 1947 India became independent and issued 3 stamps with inscription '15th AUG 1947' (3 values)


Map of India, very common more modern stamp of India issued first in 1957, it exists in many values. These stamps also exists with "U.N.FORCE INDIA CONGO" overprint (1962) and with Indian overprint (1957).

Some stamps that are hard to identify:
