1897 Native inscriptions

1/4 a black on red 1/2 a black on lilac

  1/2 p black on red
  1/4 a black on red
  1/2 a black on lilac
  1 a black on green
  2 a black on yellow

Ten types exist of each stamp (as many stamps as there are in one sheet). Most stamps have a black control overprint.

vc = very common
c  = common
*  = not so common
** = uncommon
*** = very uncommon
R   = rare
RR  = very rare
RRR = extremely rare

Sheet with 10 types.


The only cancel I've seen is a circular one with "DHAR STATE" and Indian characters in the center in between two lines and a larger Indian character at the bottom of the circle.

Forgeries:


Modern forgeries, copied from an image of the Stanley Gibbons catalogue (made around 1980's?). I've also seen this forgery in red color (i.e. red on white paper!).

Note that the control mark was placed below the 'stamp'.

I've also seen a similar postcard but with 'DHAR STATE POST CARD' and Indian text added to the design.

 

In March 1901 Dhar stopped using its own stamps.
