Great Comoro is a French colony, near Madagascar.

1893 French colonies type, Tablet issue, inscription "GRANDE COMORE"

The shown cancelled stamp (50 c) is probably cancelled to order, since I've seen the whole set cancelled with the same cancel "D'ZAOUDZI MAYOTTE 24 AOUT 05". I have seen the stamps of Mayotte and Anjouan with the same cancel.

Fournier has made forgeries of these stamps, example:

Forged Fournier cancel, reduced size. It looks like this cancel was applied on the above 1 F forgery.


Another cancel that was used by Fournier is "MORONI 10 JUIN 12 GDE COMORE", where the date presumably could be changed (see next image with "01" date), see also:


Another part of a sheet with Fournier forged cancels, the "MORONI GDE COMORE" cancel is the last one on row two. There is no date indicated (yet).
