Forgeries!

This are Fournier forgeries, taken from a Fournier Album with 'FAC-SIMILE' printed at the backside. Fournier did of course sell these stamps without this overprint at the back.

Fournier forgeries, reduced sizes

Fournier forgeries

Fournier also forged a 30 c value without the "C.".

The forged cancel "POINTE A PITRE GUADELOUPE" (with no date) was used by Fournier on these forgeries.

Fournier forgery with forged "BASSE-TERRE 1E/21 JUIN 92 GUADELOUPE" cancel

Forged Fournier cancels "POINTE A PITRE 2E/21 JANV 92 GUADELOUPE", "ST LOUIS 2 JUIL. 91 GUADELOUPE" and "BASSE-TERRE 1E/21 JUIN 92 GUADELOUPE" (Reduced sizes)

1884 Use of general postage due stamps of the French Colonies

In https://www.franceandcolonies.org/philatelist/106.pdf it is stated that in 1884 the postage due stamps of the French Colonies were send to Guadeloupe in March 1884: 5 c black, 10 c black, 15 c black, 20 c black, 30 c black, 40 c black (?), 1 F brown, 2 F brown and 5 F brown. However, for reasons unknown, the next issue of postage due stamps were printed as well. And therefore the postage due stamps of the French Colonies were rarely used in Guadeloupe. These general postage due issues are known to have been used after 1888 again in Guadeloupe.

1884 Inscription "Chiffre Taxe GUADELOUPE A percevoir"

Guadeloupe, due stamp 15 c and 20 cblack 1884

  15 c black on violet
  20 c black on red
  30 c black on yellow
  35 c black on grey
  50 c black on green

Different '2' in the 20 c value.

If my information is correct, there seem to be several types (6 or 7?) concerning the ornamental border for all values except for the 50 c, which has 15 types. The Serrane guide says that the 35 also exists in more types. Many of the cancelled stamps appear to have a 'cancelled to order' appearence.

Types:

Sheet with different types; both the numbers and the frames.

Type IV with rotated upper right corner ornament.

Type VI; "A" of "A percevoir" is placed very far to the left. Right bottom corner ornament is different.

Type VII, note the two different bottom corner ornaments.

Type VIII

Type ? Note the thicker line below the "cen" and the breaks in the line below "GUADELOUPE"

Type with very small "s" in "centimes" and upper right corner ornament turned.

The left stamp of these two 50 c values has the "s" of "centimes" placed higher. Next to it a 15 c with the same 'error'

Forgeries, examples:

Three forgeries, apparently made by the same forger, they all have the same cancel 'GUADELOUPE 7 84' in a single circle

Could be a forgery of the 5 c value

Forgery with "POINT A PITRE 3E/31 DEC GUADELOUPE" cancel. The stamp next to it has the same cancel, I presume this is a forgery as well.

Supposed to be type 4
Fournier forgeries with forged cancel "* ST.LOUIS * GUADELOUPE 2 JUIL. 91" and "BASSE-TERRE 1E/21 JUIN 92" as shown below

Forged Fournier cancels "POINTE A PITRE 2E/21 JANV 92 GUADELOUPE", "ST LOUIS 2 JUIL. 91 GUADELOUPE" and "BASSE-TERRE 1E/21 JUIN 92 GUADELOUPE" (Reduced sizes)
