France Postage Due Stamps, 1881 Fournier
forgeries, first type
French colonies, postage due stamps,
Fournier forgeries
Fournier made two types of forgeries (possibly even more, see the 1 F forgeries below) of the 1881 postage due stamps.
Two different kinds of Fournier forgeries of the 1 F black. The
position of the "1" is different.
This is an imperforate 50 c forgery made by Fournier probably taken from a 'Fournier
Album of Philatelic forgeries', the ornament left to the
"C" of "CHIFFRE" is badly done. The word
"TAXE" has too thin letters. In my opinion, the white
space inside the "0" is not wide enough. Next to it a
"Colis Postaux" overprint of Ivory Coast. Click here for more Fournier forgeries of
France.
A pair of imperforate 50 c black Fournier forgeries as taken from
a Fournier Album of Philatelic Forgeries, both with
"FAUX" overprint. In my opinion, the top left loop of
the "5" is bent too far backwards. Also a perforated
forged 50 c stamp with "FAUX" overprint. Also one of
these forgeries with a "UZES 2E/14 NOV 89 GARD" forged
cancel. The top right corner is slightly damaged at the right
hand side.
2 F black Fournier forgery, the "2 FRANCS A PERCEVOIR"
is placed too far to the right, such that the last "R"
of "PERCEVOIR" is too close to the banderole besides
it. The "C" of "PERCEVOIR" is too narrow and
the bottom left part of the "2" is to far stretched to
the left.
A very similar forgery, also with the "2" placed too
far to the right. The accent on the "A" appears to be
slightly different from the above forgery?
Fournier forgeries of the 1 F, 2 F and 5 F black, all with cancel
"NANTUA 3E/15 JUIL 82 AIN"
Fournier forgeries taken from a Fournier Album. The first one has
a "UZES 2E/14 NOV 89 GARD" cancel. The third forgery
appears to have the "PARIS 4E/7 NOV 83 R.LAFAYETTE"
cancel. I think the last one has a "PARIS 12 BD BEAUMARCHAIS
8E/12 DEC 94" cancel. The uncancelled black 1 F forgery has
a black blotch under the "CH" of "CHIFFRE".
1 F forgery with "FAUX" overprint.
1 F of France and 1 F forgery of the French colonies, some of
them also have a black blotch under the "CH" of
"CHIFFRE" (however it also appears without this blotch,
see the last examples). The "1" is also placed too far
to the left. The first stamp presumably has the forged Fournier
cancel "PARIS 4E/27 JANV 82 (60)" as can be found in
the Fournier album.
Forgeries with a "PARIS 4E/7 NOV 83 R.LAFAYETTE"
cancel.
1 F, 2 F and 5 F Fournier forgeries with forged "PARIS 38
2E/15 JUIN 91 R.CLAUDE BERNARD" cancel
1 F and 2F Fournier forgeries with a forged "PARIS 12 BD
BEAUMARCHAIS 8E/12 DEC 94" cancel
A 2 F brown forgery with most likely a forged "SALVIAC 7E/10
NOV 91 LOT" cancel.
2 F forgery with a "CLUSES 2E/22 OCT 91 HAUTE-SAVOIE"
forged cancel.
In the 'Fournier Album of Philatelic Forgeries' I have seen a 2 F brown Fournier forgery with a "CLUSES 2E/22 OCT 91 HAUTE-SAVOIE" cancel and a 5 F brown with a "UZES 2E/14 NOV 89 GARD" cancel.
Forgeries with a "UZES 2E/14 NOV 89 GARD" cancel.
A 1 F black, 2 F black and a 5 F black forgery with a "PARIS
4E./27 JANV. 82 (60)" cancel.
A forged "MONS-EN-BAROEUL 16 MARS 89 NORD" cancel on
Fournier forgeries.
