    (this stamp exists with '75' overprinted in black)

(Diagonal 'BENIN' overprint)

The overprint 'BENIN' also exists diagonally. Be careful, many forged 'BENIN' overprints exist. Also non-official reprints exist of the values 1 c, 2 c, 3 c, 15 c (blue overprint), 20 c and 25 c.

Forgeries:

Postage Due stamps

1894 French Colonies postage due stamps overprinted 'BENIN'

The overprint exists horizontally, upwards or downwards.

The cancel on the next stamps is 'PORTO NOVO 17 MARS BENIN'. The size of the overprint is also different from the one above, could they be forgeries?

The territory of BENIN was incorporated in the territory of DAHOMEY in 1899. The remaining stocks of the stamps of BENIN were used in this country.
