(Front and backside of a Sperati forgery of the 19 c value)

The above forgery of the 19 c was made by Sperati, I do not know the distinghuishing characteristics of this forgery.

The remainders of these stamps were sold to dealers, they were surcharged with three horizontal bars:

In 1868/69 Some of these stamps were overprinted 'HABILITADO POR LA NACION', example:

This overprint exists in 2 official types. Besides that, there are many 'local' overprints of a private or fiscal character. All these overprints are rare to extremely rare.

I've been told that the next stamps are forgeries, I have no further information:

(Forgeries)

(Forgery)

(Two forgeries of the 19 c red and 19 c brown with the same cancel!)

Sperati made a forgeries of the 19 c stamps; the differences with the genuine stamp are microscopic, he made two different types of this forgery;

(Sperati forgery, type I)

Distinghuishing characteristics for type I:
1) There is a dot of color just below the frameline above the 'DE'.
2) The number '9' has a small white spur to the left of the upper part
3) The 'C' of 'CUARTOS' has a small spur at the right bottom side

Distinghuishing characteristics for type II:
1) The upper left corner is damaged
2) There is a small white dot to the upper right side of the 'A' of 'CUARTOS'
3) The ornament to the right of the 'S' of 'CUARTOS' is defective

I have seen the 19 c brown and 19 c red in type I, in type II I have only seen the 19 c brown

Fiscal stamps

Fiscal stamps with Queen Isabella, example:

(Inscription 'RECIBOS')

These fiscal stamps are not very common.

Fiscal stamp of the Philippines, portrait of Queen Isabella with inscription 'DS. DE FIRMA';:

In this design exist: 1 P brown, 2 P red and 5 P blue. Other fiscal stamps with Queen Isabella with inscription 'DERECHOS DE FIRMA' exist for the Philippines.
