Bialystok

Certified genuine

4 stamps were issued for Bialystock in 1916.

(Reduced sizes)

3 k red with green bar

The stamps without bar were issued on 18th February 1916. They are cancelled with a date (see images above), which was applied before the stamps were pasted on the letters. All stamps were printed in sheets of 50. A postcard in a similar design exists: 5 k brown (also with black bar on the word 'Postkarte').

Przedborz

An Austrian field post office existed in Przedborz during world war I. A local post was set up by the military authorities to bring civilian mail to Konsk. Mail was franked with Austrian field post stamps, and the local stamps were applied as proof of payment for the local delivery.

I have seen a forgery of the 5 h value, with the 'J' of 'MIESJKA' more curved at the bottom.

Warning: Many forgeries exist! It seems that only 5000 of these stamps were issued (most of the above stamps are probably forgeries!). In the genuine stamps the 'r' and the 'k' in 'Zarkach' should not touch each other. The genuine stamps should be perforated 11 1/2. The genuine stamps don't exist imperforated! If I'm well informed, of the three persons standing halfway the church, the most left person is shorter in the forgeries (and resembles a bear).

Left: zoom-in of forgery; Right: zoom-in of genuine stamp.

Forgeries.

Luboml

non issued locals

  5 p green
  10 p red
  20 p grey
  25 p blue
  50 p green

These stamps were prepared, but were never used. Cancelled stamps exist, but they were cancelled to order. Usually the stamps are perforated, but imperforate stamps exist (unfinished stamps). Stamps in other colours are proofs. 'Misprints' with inverted values, were intentionally made.

These stamps were printed in blocks of 11, with 10 normal stamps, 1 stamp with inverted numerals and 1 empty space.

Zawierce

(1915)

Image obtained thanks to Krzysztof Ciesiul

20 p grey and brown (School building)

10 p R R
20 p RR RR

There seems to be 3 varieties of both these stamps. In between stamps the word 'Zawierce' is printed in violet fancy letters. I've seen a cancel consisting of a violet 'ZAWIERCE' in a straight line with no containing box.

The following stamp does not have the violet 'Zawierce' overprint between two stamps, it could be a forgery:
