Return To Catalogue -Fiume, general issues - Hungary - Italy
Note: on my website many of the
pictures can not be seen! They are of course present in the catalogue;
contact me if you want to purchase the catalogue.
Warning: many of these overprints are forgeries! The first and second batch of overprints was done with a machine. Manually overprinted overprints also exist (third printing). Double and inverted overprints exist.
The forger Fournier is known to have made forgeries of these stamps (presumably he used the forged "FIUME" overprint as listed in the Fournier Album), the forged cancel "FIUME 9191 Jan.-9-N10 A2A" with imperial crown can also be found in this album.
Forged Fiume cancel (first image in the bottom row); image taken
from a Fournier Album (reduced size).
On Newspaper stamp (HIRLAPJEGY) of Hungary
Fiume postmark with imperial crown in the design. Later postmarks
don't show this crown.
