"ESCUELAS"

The stamps with inscription 'ESCUELAS' were actually fiscal stamps, but they could be used for postage as well before July 1895.

1870 Bolivar, inscription "ESCUELAS"


(I have been told that this is a forgery)

All these stamps are overprinted in very small caracters 'Decreto de 27 de Junio 1870' or 'Decreto de 27 de Abril 1870', imperforate, the following values exist: 1 c, 2 c, 3 c, 4 c, 5 c, 1 R, 2 R, 3 R, 5 R, 7 R, 9 R, 15 R, 20 R, 30 R, 50 R.

50 c with a very strange cancel.


Forgery of the 5 V value (probably made by Oneglia).


I've been told that these stamps are forgeries, I have no further information.

Bogus bisected stamps exist, example:


(Reduced size, 1/2 of a 10 c and 1/2 of a 25 c)

The surcharges '1 ctvo' and '1/2 real' are bogus issues.

Fiscal Stamps

1878 Inscription 'REPUBLICA DE VENEZUELA Sello', arms

1/2 r, 1 r, 3 r, 5 r, 10 r, 20 r, 5 P, 10 P, 20 P, 40 P; all in the colour black.

 

There are some other local fiscal stamps for Aragua (1901), Cabello (1899), Carabobo Cojedes (RR), Carabobon (1901), Caracas (passport, 1901 and patents 1898), Distrito Federal (1899), Girardot (1901), Guayana (1903), Libertador (1901), Marino (1901 and 1903), Maturin (1903), Miranda (1900), Ricaurte (1901), San Sebastian (1898 and 1900), Sucre (1902), Valencia (R), Vargas (1901) and Zamora (1901).
