1935 Silver Jubilee of King George V, inscription '1910-1935'

1/2 p green and black

Windsor Castle, in this design were issued: 1/2 p green and black, 2 1/2 p blue and brown, 6 p green and blue and 1 Sh lilac and black. The design is identical to many other British colonies. For more information on these stamps, but for other British colonies, click here

 

1937 Inscription '12th MAY 1937' portrait of King and Queen

The values 1/2 p green, 1 1/2 p red and 2 1/2 p blue were issued (design identical to that of many other British colonies).

 

1938 1 farthing (actually part of the next set, but due to its different size and design, I've listed it seperately)


Previous design of the 1/4 p value, but with the emblem of King George Vi in the upper right hand corner and inscription 'GRAND HARBOUR' added in the upper left part.

This stamp exists with diagonal overprint 'SELF-GOVERNMENT 1947' (issued in 1948).

Postage Due Stamps

Postage due stamps were first issued on 16-April-1925 (simple design with inscription 'POSTAGE DUE MALTA', in the values 1/2 p, 1 p, 1 1/2 p, 3 p, 2 1/2 p all black on white, 3 p black on grey, 4 p, 6 p, 1 Sh and 1 Sh 6 p, all in colour black on yellow). Examples of such stamps:

These stamps also exist printed tete-beche. I've seen forgeries of a 2 1/2 p value error ('2 of '1/2' missing) together with a normal stamp.

 

1925 New design

A new set was issued in the same year (21-July-1925), with a maltese cross and incsription 'MALTA POSTAGE DUE' (values 1/2 p green, 1 p violet, 1 1/2 p brown, 2 p grey, 2 1/2 p orange, 3 p blue, 4 p green and 6 p lilac).
