General remarks: the stamps of Aitutaki with overprint on New Zealand are much scarcer than the corresponding stamps of New Zealand without any overprint. I'm not aware of any forged 'AITUTAKI' overprints.

1903 Stamps of New Zealand overprinted 'AITUTAKI' and value (except 1 p)

'Ava Pene' on 1/2 p green Inscription 'DOMINION'

'Ava Pene' (red) on 1/2 p green (Mount Cook)
'Tai Pene' (blue) on 1 p (woman, inscription New Zealand)
'Tai Pene' (blue) on 1 p (woman, inscription Dominion of New Zealand)
1 p (woman, inscription Dominion of New Zealand, blue overprint)
'Rua Pene Ma Te Ava' (red) on 2 1/2 p blue (lake Wakatipu)
'Toru Pene' (blue) on 3 p brown (Huia birds)
'Ono Pene' (blue) on 6 p red (Kiwi bird)
'Tai Tiringi' (blue) on 1 Sh red (Cockatoo Birds)

The 'Tai Pene' on 1 p with inscription 'Dominion' actually was issued much later (around 1912), but is listed here for simplicity reasons. The 'AITUTAKI' overprint on the 'Dominion' stamp without additional surcharge was issued in 1918.

For the specialist; the 3 p exists in two types (slightly different colours, maroon and dark brown, also different perforation and the design is slightly different), the maroon colour is about half a valuable as the dark brown colour. I do not know if the above shown 'error in the second T' in the 1/2 p value has any great value.

Aitutaki stopped issuing its own stamps in 1932 and used the stamps of the Cook Islands instead.
